New Proposed Sidewalk at Harborn Rd

Due to a community request I have asked staff to look at options for improvement to the well-traveled path in the Harborn Rd area. Staff have created the following proposal to improve the walkability of the area.

Proposed

This proposed design was chosen to create a safe, accessible space for pedestrians without removing or damaging the 3 large oak trees in the boulevard.

The proposal:

  • Build a 2 metre concrete sidewalk next to the existing curb on the north side of Harborn Road and adjust the curb around the new sidewalk

  • The new sidewalk on the north side resulted in a narrower road; therefore, the curb on the south west corner of Harborn Road will be shifted slightly south to maintain a 7 metre road width at Grange Drive

  • Resurface and repaint the road so that the new center line and lane widths are in the right place

  • Add tactile plates to the curb depressions for accessibility

  • Paint a crosswalk at Harborn Road and Premium Way

If you have questions or feedback on the proposed design please email mattea.turco@mississauga.ca
