Should City Councillors be Allowed to Endorse Political Candidates?

Should City councillors and Mayors be allowed to endorse candidates and political parties?  Increasingly, this question is being asked.  It is an interesting question. Under the Municipal Act, City Councillors can take part in political campaigns as long as it is on their dime and time, i.e. no city resources are used.  The big question is, does using one’s official titles while endorsing cross the line?  This will be discussed at Governance Committee on May 12th.
