February 2021
Dear Neighbour,
I hope this newsletter finds you well and that you have had a good start to 2021. One new development at my end is the launch of a revamped website. Check it out for the most up to date news.
Many of you have been asking me "How is the COVID-19 vaccine going to be rolled out for those us who are not part of the current phase 1?" A second related question has been "When will seniors who live in their own homes be prioritized?"
As you know, the phase 1 vaccination is focused on health care workers, long term care residents, retirement home residents, indigenous communities and recipients of chronic home health care. This will be followed by phase 2 which is tentatively scheduled from March to July 2021 depending on the availability of vaccines. In phase 2, seniors, starting with those 80 years and older, will be prioritized.
The vaccine roll out will be accompanied by a robust communications plan that will ensure that every resident in Peel knows when and how they will be able to receive the vaccine.
Finally, I want to clarify, prioritization of who gets the vaccine and in what order is the jurisdiction of the Province of Ontario and Public Health.
